Fiona Nusum is a dynamic artist and an esteemed educator within the Bermuda Public School System. With a multifaceted skill set, Fiona brings a wealth of experience and innovation to her roles. Her artistry extends across various mediums, showcasing a distinct and inspiring perspective. As a practicing artist, Fiona’s work resonates with a fresh, captivating voice that draws from a rich tapestry of influences. Her versatility is deeply entrenched in the nuances of Bermuda’s artistic realm with offshore inspiration.
Fiona earned her BA in Fine Arts from London Metropolitan University, where her focus on drawing, painting and printmaking laid the foundation for her artistic journey. Continuing her pursuit of knowledge, Fiona expanded her horizons, achieving a Masters of Education in Arts Education from the University of Exeter, specializing in a comprehensive study encompassing music, theatre, dance, and visual art. Her commitment to education led her to further qualifications, culminating in a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Sunderland University.
Exploring diverse mediums, Fiona’s artistic evolution has embraced mixed media, particularly finding joy in the vivid expressions afforded by oil painting and oil pastels. Her adeptness also extends beyond the canvas, encompassing photography and videography, with a distinctive flair for underwater imagery. Additionally, her expertise in event curation and creative marketing has made a notable impact on Bermuda’s artistic landscape.
Fiona’s artistic endeavors reflect her multifaceted expertise and a profound connection to creative exploration. Her work with arts education is a testament to her unwavering passion for the arts and a keen eye for innovation which she extends beyond the classroom and art studio. Fiona’s teaching journey spans both primary and secondary education, where she excels as a Visual Arts teacher and Arts curriculum leader. With experience teaching diverse core subjects for students in primary years 3 – 6 and middle school learners in foreign languages, Fiona is able to connect with every age and ability. With a dedication to nurturing creativity and fostering a deep appreciation for art, Fiona continuously inspires and empowers her students to explore their own artistic potential.
